if someone seriously has the answer to that question, then enlighten me!!
this past week flew by in great haste, and here i am on the cusp of a NEW one...where did the time go?
well on the home front, mom and dad just got back today from their cruise (lucky TAN ducks) and i've been inducted into their email hall of fame for the funniest email ever (which is ironic because i totally SUCK at sending emails....forever behind :P ) but my mom says she's gonna frame one. LOL. it was a very interesting week to say the least.
brief recap.
kids returned to school despite protests of wanting spring break to just meld into summer vacation, and though they were gone all day, i swear i would blink my eyes and they were home again.
finished our taxes, getting a sweet refund. yay, us. debt reduction, here we come.
finally went to a behavioral clinic about my oldest...got all the requisite questionnaires finished/collected, and he meets with them for the first time tomorrow. wish us luck.
putting kits together for Pick Of The Patch Retreat this weekend...can't wait.
ATTENTION LOCAL SCRAPPERS:
i have opened one more 'Freestyle' class, for details/registration, be sure to visit POTP website. the first one sold out so quickly, we're hoping to accommodate all those that want to get down and dirty and PLAY~the Freestyle way! ;D
**you do NOT have to be registered for the retreat/crop to attend a class! You can register for classes only, if you want to! we'd LOVE to have you!
okay...
back to my week:
also finished up my class project samples for Scrapbook Oasis at the end of next month; they are hosting a rockin' Freestyle Weekend! another can't wait!
i'm too chicken so far to share the samples for all these classes i'm doing....is that, like, taboo? i don't know!! i'm still so green, its pathetic! clue me in peeps.....do i keep them a secret? do i share?? what do others do? :) what if they look retarded??? LOL. such confidence. :P
had a sweet scrapping day with amy...we worked on our art journals. it was a fun break from all the hullabaloo of life swarming around me! :) which reminds me....i need to scan and post those babies!
went to a YUMMY candle party at amy's too....oh, the heavenly scents! ylang-ylang. my fave smell EVUH. fo sho. :)
got to attend the Seattle Temple...it was SO WONDERFUL to fill a measure of my week with peace and solitude, calm and renewal, thought and prayer. i love that place...love that i had the chance to go. (thanks again, amy for watching baylor! i owe you!)
missing rachael, who was gallavanting her 8-month preggo self around Dallas all week...i love that she does that though; accompanies her dh on business trips. spends the day exploring and discovering and learning in a new city. she's such an adventurer!
also, i spent every evening this past week taking care of my 85 year old grandmother...not the one i posted about last week, but my paternal grandmother. she is suffering from dementia, and though i spent a couple years working as a CNA in facilities with lots of dementia/alzheimers patients, and though my maternal grandfather suffered from this.....i come ill prepared.
i hate that this is happening to the relative i most resemble.
i hate that my empathy overpowers me and blankets my emotions and memories.
i hate that we don't laugh with the same sound anymore.
that she drools on me when i dress her for bed.
that she, who taught me to drive, is now chauffeured by me and no longer exhilarates in my sweet driving skills.
i am scared that it will happen to me, too.
and that,
my friends,
is WHY I SCRAPBOOK.
on the off chance that heredity and genetics deal me a mean deck of cards, and cheat me out of the transferal of personal history to my grandchildren and great grandchildren.
not names.
not dates.
not events.
but moments and thoughts and times and seasons.
loves and dreams and lessons learned the hard way.
how i saw the world.
how i saw my family.
how i interpreted my life.
hoping, in some way, that it will inspire them to interpret their own.
okay....best be off to bed. a new day and week dawns all too soon....
Happy Easter, everyone! :)
